At /sərj/ we hand pick every single book that we carry.
Our goal is to take all of the fun books you might find in a trip to a large store and put them in one place.
Our focus is on hardcover books that you'd be proud to own or give as a gift. We especially enjoy books on cooking, art, pop-culture, crafts, childrens titles and fiction.
We price-match the current Amazon price on all titles. 10% of all books sales go to benefit LIFT, a local organization dedicated to adult literacy. Learn more at www.lift-texas.org

Questions People Have Asked + Answers
How many grams of this or that do you use in your coffee and tea drinks?
We worked with our vendors closely to create this chart; which we are happy to share with you. Now go read a book. :) Link to coffee and tea preparation chart.
How do you pick your books?
The books have to meet one of two criteria. They either have to be titles we would own ourselves or feel good about gifting. Our focus is on pop-culture, cooking, fiction, and childrens titles.
How many books do you have at a given time?
The front of our shop holds 250 books and we are always fully stocked. When the lounge opens, we will add more.
How does your pricing compare to Amazon?
We match the current price on Amazon, 10% of every sale goes to benefit LIFT, a charity focused on adult literacy.
Do you match the Amazon marketplace price?
No, we match the price direct from Amazon, not the marketplace which mostly contains used books or titles from brokers not retailers which we simply can't compete with.
Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes but we encourge people to relax and unplug here, and to have a conversation or flip through a book. If you ask us we will always give you the password, we just don't promote it as a "feature."
What does Serj mean or stand for?
It means to move ahead through simplicity. For example we use a manual hand press to make our espresso; and it makes a wonderful product. We feel coffee is about the bean not the machine. We serve Organic, Fair Trade, Single Origin coffee from Noble Coyote in Dallas TX.
How did you come up with the name?
Anne's nephew Hassan and John were driving around one day when it hit them.
Do you have games we can play in the store?
Yes, right now we are focused on checkers but your welcome to bring your own games too. We ask that you be respectful to other patrons who might be waiting to sit down and limit your games to a reasonable amout of time :)
We love the music you play in the store, is it a playlist?
It's John's dad's Pandora station; lot's of classic jazz standards. Here is link to it if you'd like to get in the Serj mood before stopping by or whatever. Click to listen
Where can I park?
We are surrounded by parking meters for street parking and there are several large parking lots on our street. If you park on the streets, the meters cost $1.50 an hour / 10 minutes per quarter.
